UK condemns Israeli settlement construction in West Bank

The UK's Foreign Office condemned the Israeli regime's decision to construct over 2,300 new settlements in the West Bank.

Iran Press/Europe: The British Foreign Office stressed in a statement on Tuesday that the Israeli regime's settlement constructions are illegal.

"Settlements are illegal under international law and undermine the physical viability of the two-state solution. The UK calls on Israel to halt such counterproductive action," FCO stated.

The Israeli regime announced in the past week that it would begin the construction of over 2,300 new settlements in the West Bank.

The Israeli decision also was condemned by the European Union.

The Israeli regime continues building the settlements ignoring the international community and in doing so it is backed by the US.

All of these settlements are illegal under international law.

The Israeli regime seeks to change the geographical structure of the Palestinian territories to legitimize its domination over the Palestinians territories.

The UN Security Council on December 23, 2016, in a resolution (Resolution 2334) called on the Israeli regime to immediately and completely stop all of its settlement construction activities in the Palestinian territories.
