Earlier, the special assistant in Afghanistan affairs of Iran's Foreign Ministry Mohammad-Ebrahim Taherian met Afghan officials and personalities to have a discussion over reducing political differences and establish an inclusive government in the country.

Taherian, who arrived in Kabul on Sunday 19 April has met with Afghanistan's President Ashraf Ghani, former Chief Executive officer Abdullah Abdullah, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Hanif Atmar, National Security Adviser Hamadullah Mohib, former President Hamid Karzai, and some other Afghan officials.

Political tensions between Ashraf Ghani and Abdullah Abdullah began when the Afghan election committee declared Ashraf Ghani the winner of the recent election, but Abdullah Abdullah called himself president and the two Afghan officials, who both claim they won the presidential election, held their inauguration ceremonies at two palaces in Kabul.
