US Treasury imposes new sanctions on Iran despite COVID-19

The US Treasury Department has imposed new sanctions on Iran while Tehran battles the coronavirus outbreak.

Iran Press/America: The new round of sanctions has targeted nine individuals, including Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani-Fazli, according to a notice published by the website of the US Treasury Department on Wednesday.

The sanctions also target three entities – two prisons and a law enforcement group, as Tehran battles the coronavirus outbreak.

Iranian officials say the sanctions Washington reimposed on Tehran after President Donald Trump abandoned Iran’s 2015 multilateral deal, has impeded Iran from accessing its financial sources needed to tackle the coronavirus.
