Iran Press/America: The death toll in the United States continues to surge with 70,847 deaths and 1,201,337 cases. The US continues to lead worldwide cases and deaths from the virus.

This is while 251,718 people around the world have now died from COVID-19, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. The number of confirmed cases exceeds 3.5 million, while nearly 1.2 million people have recovered.

In this regard, an internal US government document predicts 3,000 daily coronavirus deaths in the country by early June.

It seems to predict about 200,000 new coronavirus cases per day by the end of this month, up from about 25,000 currently, while the US President Donald Trump said on Sunday 3 May he now believes as many as 100,000 Americans could die in the coronavirus pandemic after the death toll passed his earlier estimates.
