World Bank expects a major global recession amid COVID-19 disease

The World Bank has warned of a major global recession as the Coronavirus pandemic continues to spread around the world.

Iran PressAmerica: The World Bank has said that the world's two leading financial institutions are working hard and on a large scale to tackle the recession caused by the Coronavirus, to help poorer countries affected by the economic downturn.

Earlier, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva warned that the Coronavirus pandemic has created an economic crisis 'like no other'.

"It is clear that we have entered a recession", she stressed. 

The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund said that the US economy has also entered a recession, adding that the crisis will be worse than the 2008 global financial crisis.

According to the latest reports, worldwide, the total number of the Coronavirus infections recorded since the beginning of the outbreak reached more than 1,098,762. Some 228,923 people have recovered globally, while nearly 59,172 have died. 207
