Garcia described the reestablishment of relations between Syria and Arab countries as a significant victory over global imperialism. He emphasized that Syria's position, which successfully thwarted plans to divide it, exploit its resources, and isolate it from its surroundings, is correct. He further highlighted that Syria has become a symbol of resistance, defending its independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
Both sides discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance them during their meeting. They stressed the importance of continuing efforts to strengthen cooperation between Cuba and Syria in various political, economic, and trade fields.
Ambassador Obaid noted that Syria is undergoing reconstruction and recovery from terrorism and accompanying sanctions.
