Palestinians have participated in the 53rd week of 'Great March of Return' protests in the Gaza Strip.

Iran Press/Middle East: Weekly border protests, known as the Great March of Return, are continuing in Gaza for the second year.

The Higher National Commission of the Great March of Return issued a statement on Thursday, in which it called on Gazans to take part in protests on Friday, which this week will be held under the banner of 'Friday of Dignity Triumph', according to Iran Press.

The committee meanwhile, hailed Egyptian efforts in a bid to unite Palestinians and end the Israeli blockade of the Gaza strip.

Palestinians in Gaza have been demonstrating as part of the Great March of Return for nearly a year since 30 March 2018, calling for an end to the crippling 12-year Israeli blockade of the small coastal enclave, as well as the implementation of the right of return for Palestinian refugees, who form an overwhelming majority of Gaza’s population.

Meanwhile, a Palestinian teenager was critically injured on Friday after he was run over by a Zionist settler with his vehicle near the village of Tuwanah, to the east of Yatta town in the south of the occupied West Bank, according to local and Palestinian security sources.

More than 250 Palestinians in Gaza have been martyred and some 26,000 injured since the demonstrations began, mostly by Israeli fire during protests but also by air and tank strikes.   208/211/104
