Maria Dotsenko, Director of United Nations Information Centre in Tehran

The Director of United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Iran , Maria Dotsenko, has emphasized that Secretary-General of the United Nations is deeply worried about re-imposition of sanctions against Iran.

Iran Press/Iran news: The Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres has stated that according to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reports, Iran has not deviated in its nuclear activities and has adhered to the nuclear agreement. Thus, the Director of United Nations Information Centre (UNIC), Maria Dotsenko argued, other signatories of JCPOA (The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) should back the nuclear deal.

Dotsenko made the comment in an interview with IRNA on Monday.

The UNIC Director highlighted that the United Nations will continue to support the Islamic Republic of Iran’s government and nation, Mehr News Agency reported.

Maria Dotsenko went on to say that the UN is going to help the Iranian government to provide vulnerable people with special packages in a move to lessen the effects of US sanctions.

Asked about the reasons behind free movement of MKO terrorists in Europe, she noted that UN condemns acts of terrorism anywhere in the world.

On 12 November 2018, the IAEA report underlined that the Islamic Republic of Iran from early days after the signing of the internationally recognized deal remained committed to its pledges with regards to JCPOA.

US President Donald Trump withdrew from the nuclear agreement in May and slapped sanctions on Iran in August. The second wave of sanctions, which targeted Iran’s oil exports and central bank, started in early November 2018.

Despite Trump's hostile policy towards the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the head of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker said on October 6, that the EU should remain strong on its' commitment to the historic Iran nuclear deal.
