Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson on Wednesday condemned the irrational decision of the European Union to impose sanctions against some Iranians.

Iran Press/Iran newsBahram Ghassemi said that such measures prove that European countries are not honest about fighting terrorism.

Ghassemi added that, rather than putting terrorist and criminal groups, such as Mujahedin-e-Khalq Organization  and Al-Ahvazieh in its sanction list, the European Union is not restricting their inhuman and terrorist measures and even supports them, Iran Press  reported.

He also said, EU is accusing the Islamic Republic of Iran which is the flag bearer of the fight against terrorism in the region and to which Europe owes its security.

Tehran will adopt necessary measures in response to the EU’s decision, Ghassemi stressed.

Meanwhile, the Iranian Foreign Minister also condemned newly announced EU sanctions over alleged planned attacks in Europe and asked European Union (EU) to stop harboring notorious MKO terrorists.

After Danish Foreign Minister announced on Tuesday that the EU countries had agreed to freeze the assets of an Iranian intelligence unit over alleged planned attacks in Europe, Mohammad Javad Zarif tweeted to remind the EU about its responsibilities for harboring MKO (also known as MEK) terrorists.

Earlier on Tuesday, Danish Foreign Minister Anders Samuelsen said in a tweet that the “EU just agreed to enact sanctions against an Iranian Intelligence Service for its assassination plots on European soil.”

Also on Tuesday, the Netherlands government accused Tehran of hatching plots and involvement in two killings in 2015 and 2017, sending a letter, signed by the foreign and interior ministers, to the Dutch parliament to warn of further economic embargoes if Tehran did not cooperate with European probes. 101/202
