The Iranian Foreign Minister condemned newly announced EU sanctions over alleged planned attacks in Europe and asked European Union (EU) to stop harboring notorious MKO terrorists.

Iran Press/Iran news: After Danish Foreign Minister announced on Tuesday that the EU countries had agreed to freeze the assets of an Iranian intelligence unit over alleged planned attacks in Europe, Mohammad Javad Zarif tweeted to remind the EU about its responsibilities for harboring MKO (also known as MEK) terrorists.

In a tweet, Foreign Minister Zarif wrote on his Twitter account: “Europeans, including Denmark, Holland and France, harbor MKO,” referring to the notorious terrorist group Mujaheedin-e Khalq Organization, which is based in Europe and is responsible for carrying out many brutal assassinations in which thousands of Iranian officials and ordinary people since the 1979 Islamic Revolution have been killed, Iran Press reported.

Earlier on Tuesday, Danish Foreign Minister Anders Samuelsen said in a tweet that the “EU just agreed to enact sanctions against an Iranian Intelligence Service for its assassination plots on European soil.”

Also on Tuesday, the Netherlands government accused Tehran of hatching plots and involvement in two killings in 2015 and 2017, sending a letter, signed by the foreign and interior ministers, to the Dutch parliament to warn of further economic embargos if Tehran did not cooperate with European probes.

In a statement early in November, the Iranian Foreign Ministry described the accusations against Iran as running false flag accusations designed by the Israeli Mossad to mar relations between Iran and Europe.

Foreign ministry spokesman, Bahram Ghassemi also commented on Iran-EU relations on Wednesday October 31, when he said: "Whenever relations between Iran and the European Union begin to expand, invisible hands taking their cue from certain countries go to work, trying to harm these relations. Thus, the Danish government's accusations against Iran, and recalling of Denmark's ambassador from Tehran can all be looked upon from this angle." 101/ 211 / 202
