The presidents of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Singapore signed seven cooperation agreements between the two countries.

Iran PressAsia: Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Wednesday discussed prospects for the expansion of economic cooperation with his Singaporean counterpart Halimah Yacob, who arrived in Tashkent on a landmark official visit.

“During the negotiations, great attention was paid to the issues of further strengthening political dialogue and inter-parliamentary relations, mutual support within the framework of international organizations … and the intensification of contacts in the field of public security and cultural and humanitarian exchanges,” a statement by the Uzbek presidency read.

The presidents highlighted great progress in bilateral trade, and investment, and economy, the statement said.

Singapore has become one of the largest investors in Uzbekistan, it added.

It further said $3.8 billion worth of projects in the chemical and textile industries, transport and logistics, urban development, and educational services are being implemented in Uzbekistan with leading Singaporean companies.
