The Iranian parliament's national security and foreign policy commission released a statement on Wednesday, condemning the United Nations General Assembly's recent resolution against Iran.

Iran Press/Iran news"Iran is the victim of Terrorism, and human rights are violated the most by the opponents and enemies," said the statement.

The statement was read out by Ali Mottahari who chaired today's public session of Majlis (Iranian parliament), reported Iran Press.

Iranian parliament's national security and foreign policy commission also called the UNGA's move as an action based on double standards and  thereby condemned it.

On December 18, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), under pressure from United States and Canada, voted in favor of a Canadian-sponsored resolution on human rights in Iran, with scores of countries abstaining from the vote.

The politically-motivated resolution, which was previously approved in the third Committee of the UN General Assembly, was drafted by United States and Canada and approved in the General Assembly on Monday evening local time.

The resolution again reiterated old and discredited human rights claims against Iran.

Speaking ahead of voting on the Canadian draft resolution on November 16, Iran's Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the UN Eshaq Al-e Habib dismissed United Nations resolution that accuses it of human rights violations as a 'politically-motivated' resolution.

The Russian envoy to the United Nations also opposed the Canadian sponsored resolution, saying the resolution shows Western double standards with regards to human rights and is politically-motivated. 101/203/211
