Iran Press/ Africa: Fighting broke out early Saturday between the Sudanese army and RSF fighters in Khartoum, with gunfire and bombs heard near the army headquarters and presidential palace, according to an Anadolu reporter in Khartoum. The reason for these conflicts, which are expanding and are still ongoing, is the slow progress in the processes related to the transfer of power in Sudan to civilians.
The Committee of Sudanese Doctors announced that 25 people were killed and 183 people were injured in the clashes on Saturday in this country.
On Saturday evening, Rapid Support Forces (RSF) said on their official page that they were controlling a number of strategically important social and military facilities all over the country, including the General Staff of the Sudanese Armed Forces, the office of the national television and other governmental facilities.
The Armed Forces of Sudan, in turn, dismissed these reports on their Facebook page (banned in Russia as it’s owned by Meta Corporation, which is designated as extremist in Russia).
The African Union (AU) on Saturday called for a cease-fire in Sudan amid clashes between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The chairperson fervently appeals to all parties, the armed forces and the rapid reaction forces, in particular, to immediately cease the destruction of the country, the panic of the population and the bloodshed,” said Moussa Faki Mahamat, the AU Commission chairperson.
Faki urged the international community to “combine, in unity and urgency, their efforts to bring the parties to immediately cease military actions and return to the negotiating table for a satisfactory end to the crisis for all.” 219
