Iran Press/ America: Zahra Ershadi, Iran's ambassador and deputy representative to the United Nations, added in a speech on Wednesday: extreme climate changes can undermine the sustainable development of all countries.
The deputy representative of Iran at the United Nations stated: "Iran attaches great importance to combating severe climate change and its environmental consequences."
The senior diplomat of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the United Nations continued: "It is unfortunate that the developed countries, which bear the historical responsibility for this emerging global challenge, continue to ignore their international responsibilities by implementing or abandoning their commitments, especially towards the developing countries."
Ershadi added: "In addition to the lack of development, technology, technical knowledge and lack of sufficient financial resources, along with the illegal unilateral sanctions consist the most important obstacles preventing the target countries from implementing their environmental obligations."
She emphasized, we expect the International Court of Justice to deal with the mandatory nature of the international obligations of developed countries regarding their environmental obligations towards other countries of the world.
Ershadi stated: "The Islamic Republic of Iran declares its readiness to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, povided that all sanctions are camcelled, access to financial resources and the necessary technologies in order to acquire the necessary ability to fulfill its environmental obligations are made possible."
Accordingly, Iran welcomes cooperation and participation in the implementation of the globally agreed agenda in this regard. 219
