The head of Iran's Presidential Office, Mahmoud Vaezi said developing relations and cooperation with neighbouring countries is of strategic importance to Iran.

Iran PressAsia: According to an Iran Press report, the head of Iran's Presidential Office, Mahmoud Vaezi made the remarks in Ankara, Turkey, in a meeting with Turkish Trade Minister Ruhsar Pekcan.

Vaezi  also called for strengthening of economic and commercial ties between Tehran and Ankara.

Mahmoud Vaezi, heading a high-ranking politico-economic delegation, arrived in Ankara, Turkey, on Thursday for talks with senior Turkish officials. Expressing regret over the deadly train crash in Turkey, he sympathized with victims and families of the bereaved in this tragic accident.

Referring to holding of four rounds of supreme council of strategic cooperation between the two countries, Vaezi said: "We are happy that the fifth round will be held within days. Iran hopes to reach the desired level of trade with Turkey. The agreement between presidents of the two countries to raise their trade volume to $30 billion is of importance."

The head of Iran's Presidential Office went on to call for removal of all obstacles to expansion and development of economic cooperation between Iranian and Turkish businessmen, industrialists,  and the private sectors of both countries.

Meanwhile, Turkish trade minister Ruhsar Pekcan said: "Iran has always been a strategic partner for Turkey and is of strategic importance for the Turkish side."

Pekcan also urged both sides to pave the way for promoting joint investment and cooperation.

There is no obstacle on the way of promoting relations between Iran and Turkey, Turkish trade minister said. 

Since 2013 when President Hassan Rouhani took office, Iranian and Turkish presidents have exchanged official visits, and the fifth official meeting of the two presidents will soon take place in Turkey.
