Iran's representative is going to deliver a speech on the first day of the UN Commission on the Status of Women meeting on Monday, despite the political action of the West in removing Iran's membership in this commission.

Iran Press/America: The 67th meeting of UN Commission on the Status of Women will start its meetings from Monday next week at the headquarters of this international organization in New York; Meanwhile the representative of Iran, despite the political action of the West in canceling Iran's membership in this commission, is supposed to deliver a speech on first day.

This meeting will be held under the title "Innovation and changes in technology and education in the digital age to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls".

 Mathu Joyini, Permanent Representative of the Republic of South Africa to the United Nations and Chair of the Committee on the Status of Women, on Friday said: "Although Iran is no longer a member of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, as a member of the United Nations and the General Assembly, it can participate in this upcoming event."

The head of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women added: "The only event in which Iran cannot participate is the voting in the Commission."

Last December, the resolution to cancel Iran's membership in the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women was approved with 29 votes in favor, eight votes against and 16 abstentions. 219
