Managua(IP)- A memorandum of understanding on the cooperation and political consultation mechanism was signed between the Iran and Nicaragua foreign ministers.

Iran PressAmerica: Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir- Abdollahian arrived in Managua, the capital of Nicaragua, Thursday on his first trip to Latin America.

Amir-Abdollahian was welcomed by his counterpart "Dennis Moncada" upon arrival.

Iranian foreign minister in the meeting said: "Expanding relations with Latin America is the doctrine of our foreign policy. We are witnessing the speedy expansion of relations between Iran and Nicaragua."

Also, Denis Moncada, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua, said: "We are on a good path to improve relations, and signing a memorandum of understanding on consultation and political cooperation is one of the ways to strengthen cooperation."

He emphasized: "Through the memorandum of understanding, both countries will launch constructive ways and discuss and consult on working meetings in the field of cooperation."

Moncada went on to say: "This is the first cooperation document in the new year that will be signed between Iran and Nicaragua, and last year we signed 14 documents that were in line with the interests of both nations and countries."

He added: "We are confident that we will strengthen the relations between the two countries through joint work and cooperation, and the cooperation is in the field of construction between the two countries."

Nicaragua's foreign minister emphasized: "We emphasize cooperation with a friendly and brotherly country, and Iran and Nicaragua continue in the direction of providing peace and the restoring the rights of their nations."

In recent years, relations between Iran and the progressive countries of Latin America, including Nicaragua, have always been on the rise, and these relations have been expanding in political, economic, commercial, industrial, energy, health, and other fields.
