Iran Press/ Iran news: An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 shook Iran's West Azarbaijan province on Saturday evening. The epicenter of this earthquake was announced 23 kilometers southeast of Khoy city with a population of 175,000.
According to the latest statistics, three people died and at least 973 people were injured in this earthquake.
On Monday evening, Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, in separate telephone conversations with the governor of West Azerbaijan and the head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society appreciated the services for providing relief to the earthquake victims.
Raisi, also, pointed out the extreme coldness of the air in the area, and the need to speed up the relief operations, especially the provision of shelters. Iran's President emphasized the need for food and heating equipment, as well as planning to begin the reconstruction of the damaged houses.
Raisi also once again expressed his sympathy with the families of the Khoy's earthquake victims.
