Tashkent (IP) - The 26th Meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Council of Ministers began on Tuesday in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.

Iran PressAsia: Before the start of the 26th Meeting of the ECO Council of Ministers, the participating foreign ministers took a souvenir photo with each other after attending the meeting hall.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian arrived in Tashkent last night to participate in this meeting.

Ministers and representatives of member countries including the Republic of Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Pakistan, Iran and Uzbekistan are present at the meeting of ECO Foreign Ministers.

It should be noted that Afghanistan as a member of ECO does not participate in this meeting.

The 26th Meeting of the ECO Council of Ministers is held once a year with the presence of the foreign ministers of the member countries hosted by one of the members.

Economic Cooperation Organization is a regional organization and includes Iran, Pakistan, Türkiye, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

ECO strives to improve the conditions of sustainable economic development of member countries and works to gradually remove trade barriers in this region. Another goal of ECO is to prepare a joint program for the development of human resources in these 10 countries.

This organization also works to accelerate the transportation and communication development program. ECO operates in the fields of trade, transfer, energy, tourism, production and economic growth, cooperation and partnership, and capacity building of educational programs. Also, the headquarters of the ECO Secretariat is located in Tehran.
