Tehran (IP) - The spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Kanani, strongly condemned the actions of the European Union and the British regime regarding the imposition of sanctions against some Iranian natural and legal entities.

Iran PressIran News: "The action of the European Union and the British regime is a sign of their mental disability to properly understand the realities of Iran as well as their confusion regarding the authority of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Kanani noted.

In the end, Kanani stated: "The Islamic Republic of Iran will soon announce the list of new sanctions against human rights violators and promoters of terrorism in the European Union and England."

The European Union foreign ministers on Monday discussed the situation in Iran, reaching an agreement on a fourth package of sanctions on 37 Iranian officials, high-level figures and organizations. The sanctions include units of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC).

The United States and Britain have also issued new sanctions against Iran, reflecting a deterioration in the West's already dire relations with Tehran in recent months.

The sanctions targeted units and senior officials of the IRGC across Iran.

Some EU governments and the European Parliament have made clear they want the IRGC as a whole to be added to the bloc's list of terrorist organizations. But the EU's Foreign Policy Chief, Josep Borrell, noted that could only happen if a court in an EU country determined the IRGC was guilty of terrorism.
