Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, Abbas Araghchi

President Rouhani's Vice-President and Iran's head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali-Akbar Salehi, heading a delegation, left Tehran for Brussels on Sunday to attend the third EU-Iran Seminar on International Nuclear Cooperation.

Iran news: Heading a high-ranking delegation, Salehi is set to attend the 3rd EU-Iran Seminar on International Nuclear Cooperation, which will be held on November 26-27.

The seminar marks the first joint event between Iran and Europe on nuclear cooperation after the re-imposition of US’ unilateral sanctions on Iran in the wake of Washington’s withdrawal from the landmark nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), reported Iran press.

Prominent figures, including Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS) Helga Schmid and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, will attend the high-profile seminar.

Meanwhile, Iranian deputy foreign minister for political affairs, Abbas Araghchi, wrote in a tweet on Sunday that in the face of US sanctions and pressure, two important events are set to take place tomorrow that will greatly influence the level of Iran-EU relations.

He noted that the one of the events is the third round of Iran-EU high-level seminar on 'International Nuclear Cooperation’ to be chaired by head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi on the Iranian side, and the second event is the fourth round of Iran-EU high-level political talks to be chaired by Araghchi and Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS) Helga Schmid.

This round of the seminar, slated for November 26-27, is particularly notable for marking the first joint event between Iran and Europe on nuclear cooperation after the re-imposition of US’ unilateral sanctions on Iran in the wake of Washington’s withdrawal from the landmark nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The EU and Iran held a high-level seminar on 'International Nuclear Cooperation: Expectations and Responsibilities' in Brussels on 28 February and 1 March 2017.

The seminar was the result of a joint initiative of the European Commissioner for Energy and Climate Action Miguel Arias Cañete and Iranian Vice?President Ali Akbar Salehi.

The seminar was attended by a high?level delegation from Iran, including prominent parliamentarians, as well as senior officials from the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 203/103
