Iraqi president Barham Salih stressed in a message on twitter on the rooted relations between Iraq and Iran.

Middle East: "Barham Salih" emphasized that social and cultural relations between Iran and Iraq are solidly rooted in the history of the two countries, Iran Press News Agency reported.

He also stressed on the need to strengthen the economic cooperation between the two countries.

 According to Iraqi President's Tweet, by its relation with Muslim and Arab countries, Iraq is the main axis of a group in the region which rely on respect for sovereignty and economic convergence, and put an end to the vain conflicts in the region.

Iraqi president held a number of meetings with Iranian officials after arriving in Tehran on Saturday.

President Salih and his entourage met with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, "Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei" on 17 November.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, received Barham Salih Iraqi President and his accompanying delegation on Saturday afternoon.

At this meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei expressed pleasure over the successful holding of Parliamentary elections in Iraq and the election of the President, Prime Minister and other officials into office which led to the establishment of stability in the country, and stressed: "The way to overcome the problems and confront the conspiracies of the vindictive enemies is to safeguard national unity in Iraq, correctly identify enemies and friends, resistance in the face of the blatant enemy, reliance on the youth's capabilities as well as consolidating relations with religious scholars."

He added, referring to the numerous capacities of the two countries for expanding cooperation: A dignified, powerful, independent and advanced Iraq is very beneficial for Iran, and we support our Iraqi brothers.
