Iraq (IP) - Iraq's Samarra hosted a large number of people mourning on the occasion the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hassan al-Askari (S).

Iran PressMiddle East: Mawkibs were set up on different routes leading to the holy shrine of Imam Hassan (AS), where the Iraqi military forces were present to maintain the security of the rituals held on Wednesday. 

Today, Wednesday, October 5, 2022, coincided with Rabiul I 8, 1444, was the martyrdom anniversary of the eleventh Imam of the Shia people, Imam Hassan Askari (AS).

Abu Muhammad al-Hassan is the father of the Promised Savior Imam Mahdi (AS). He was given the title, Imam al-Askari because he was forced by the Abbasid rulers to reside in Samarra which was also known as 'Askar' (a military camp or town). 

Severe restrictions on Imam al-Askari's (AS) life made him choose representatives to communicate with the Shia. Uthman ibn Saeed was one of his special representatives who became the first special deputy of Imam al-Mahdi (AS) upon the beginning of his occultation after Imam al-Askari (AS).

Imam al-Askari (AS) was martyred on the 8th of Rabi I, 260/874. He was buried in the same house where his father Imam Hadi (AS) had been buried.
