Iran Press/ America: Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who is in New York, discussed the humanitarian situation of the people of Yemen, Afghanistan, Syria, and Ukraine with Martin Griffiths, Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator at the United Nations.
According to Iran Press, in the meeting, Amir-Abdollahian appreciated Griffiths' efforts to facilitate affairs and emphasized Iran's support for continuing international humanitarian efforts to reduce human suffering.
The head of Iran's foreign policy department added: "It is expected that the United Nations will address the lifting of the humanitarian blockade of the Yemeni people, along with the establishment of real political talks by the Yemeni parties in order to continue the ceasefire in this country."
Reviewing the political developments and the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan and Syria was one of the other topics of the meeting between Amir- Abdollahian, and Griffiths.
Amir- Abdollahian further stated that while nearly 5 million Afghan migrants live in Iran, a significant number of them enter Iran daily by crossing the common borders. However, there is no news of UN humanitarian aid to this large population, especially the new refugees from Afghanistan in Iran.
He emphasized the necessity of the fair distribution of humanitarian aid among all Syrian people and the more severe address of international relief agencies to the people.
Amir- Abdollahian also explained Iran's efforts to stop the war in Ukraine and emphasized the need to address the situation of Ukrainian refugees.

Martin Griffiths, appreciating Iran's hospitality to Afghan refugees, considered Iran a unique example of receiving and helping refugees worldwide.

He pointed out the lack of sufficient funds to meet the humanitarian needs in the three mentioned countries. He stated that some donor countries had not fulfilled their financial obligations despite the commitment to aid.
Griffiths referred to his conversations with the officials of the countries involved in the Afghanistan crisis and raised the issue of how to provide humanitarian aid.
The Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Yemen expressed hope that an agreement similar to the transfer of grain between Ukraine and Russia in Syria for the transfer of humanitarian aid will also happen.
He considered the political dialogue necessary to continue the ceasefire and establish economic stability in Yemen and appreciated Iran's unbiased attention to the crisis in Ukraine.
