An Arbaeen mourning and lamentation ceremony for the chief of martyrs Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) was held on Tuesday at Imam Khomeini's Husseiniyeh, attended by the Leader of the Islamic revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, various senior officials, and groups of university students.

Iran news: According to an Iran Press report, after the mourning and lamentation ceremony, in brief remarks, the Leader praised the "pure hearts and the genuine faith and emotions" of young people and students, saying "purity and truth of young people will bring about God's bounties and blessings". The Leader also prayed for the Iranian nation, in its quest to achieve the lofty ideals of Islam and the revolution.

The speaker at the ceremony, Hojjat-ol-Islam Sa'di said Arbaeen represents the victory of truth against falsehood, right against wrong, and the defeat of enemies of God. He added: "Central to Imam Hussein's movement (peace be upon him), is surrendering to God, doing what the Almighty has ordained, and standing up to oppression, injustice and tyranny."

Elsewhere in his remarks, Hojjat-ol-Islam Sa'di said: "It is the duty of intellectuals and elites, at seminaries and universities, to concentrate on building a new Islamic civilisation, based on Imam Hussein's (PBUH) culture, and the culture of Arbaeen.

The Leader of the Islamic revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, led the mid-day and afternoon prayers, at the end of mourning and lamentation ceremony.

Earlier, throngs of university students, beating their chests and chanting eulogies and lamentations for the Chief of Martyrs, walked from Tehran university towards the official residence of the Leader of the Islamic revolution. The students took part in the mourning ceremony for Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) at the Husseiniyeh of Imam Khomeini.
