Rome (IP) - Italians protested the unprecedented increase in gas and electricity prices and severe inflation in various cities of the country.

Iran PressEurope: On Sunday, hundreds of people gathered in one of the large central squares of Rome, the capital of Italy, to express their dissatisfaction with the overpriced energy bills and the high cost of living.

Demonstrators also expressed their opposition against NATO's involvement in the Ukraine war and the western countries' full support for the country as the main cause of Italy's economic problems.

The doubling of energy prices in Italy has put the country's industries on the verge of closure and has made people angry and extremely worried about the future.

Last week, more than a hundred people in Naples came to the streets and burned gas and electricity bills in protest against the ever-increasing cost of living and the increasing unemployment.

Meanwhile, the resigned Italian government has taken measures in recent weeks to reduce the pressure caused by the increase in energy prices for the people, which were not enough, and people are waiting for snap elections and the formation of a new government.

Experts believe that the support of Europe and America to Ukraine in the war with Russia has a cost, and now the people of Europe are paying for it.
