Iran (IP) - The Iranian Vice President for Economic Affairs says the US and Europe have no choice but to return to the international Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) they signed with Iran.

Iran PressIran News: The initial nuclear deal signed in 2015 by Iran, the US, UK, France, and Germany – as well as Russia, China, and the EU – involved Tehran agreeing to certain restrictions on its nuclear industry in exchange for easing economic sanctions and other incentives.

In 2018, however, it was torpedoed by the US under then-President Donald Trump, who withdrew from the agreement unilaterally, saying it was fundamentally flawed, reimposing sanctions on Iran under a 'Maximum Pressure' campaign.

Delivering a speech prior to the Friday Prayers' sermons in Shiraz of Fars Province, southern Iran, Mohsen Rezaei said while the JCPOA was still not revived, many countries were trying to have trade relations with Iran.

Rezaei noted: "The enemy is trying to rule over Iran and other countries in the region, which have a population of over 500 million people, so they are afraid of a powerful and independent Iran."

Despite the sanctions imposed on Iran, and despite the fact that the JCPOA did not revive yet, the Iranian oil and non-oil exports surged, with the foreign exchange earnings being doubled, he pointed out.
