Rear Admiral Shamkhani:

Yerevan(IP)-The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran is against any action that leads to changes in the region's geopolitics.

Iran PressAsia: Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani, upon his arrival in Armenia on Thursday morning, addressing the reporters, pointed out Iran's 13th government's focus on the principled policy of expanding and deepening relations with neighboring countries and the region and described his trip to Armenia along this very aim.

The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, emphasizing the establishment of peace and stability in the region through intra-regional cooperation, said: "The Islamic Republic of Iran is against any action that leads to changes in the geopolitics of the region."

He stressed the efforts to establish peace and stability in the region through intra-regional cooperation and said that we support formats like 3+3.

Shamkhani expressed hope that the negotiations between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan will lead to a lasting peace within the framework of preserving the territorial integrity of both countries.

No sustainable security in region without sustainable stability in Caucasus

Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani also met with the Secretary of the National Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, and discussed issues of interest to the two countries.

In the meeting, Rear Admiral Shamkhani, referring to the deep and long-standing historical, cultural, and civilizational ties between the two nations, said, "These conditions have provided a suitable platform for strengthening and expanding comprehensive relations between the two countries."

The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran stated that the two nations of Iran and Armenia have been together throughout history in difficult regional and international conditions and natural disasters, and with such a background, there should be no restrictions on the expansion of relations between Iran and Armenia.

He stated that the volume of economic exchanges between Iran and Armenia is not proportional to the capacities that can be exchanged between the two countries; he also stressed the need to activate these capacities.

Shamkhani also stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready as before to use its capacities and facilities to establish lasting peace in the South Caucasus region.

In the meeting, Armen Grigoryan, the Secretary of the National Security Council of Armenia, also expressed his satisfaction with Rear Admiral Shamkhani's visit to Armenia and emphasized the strengthening and development of relations between the two countries at all levels.

He mentioned the development of economic and trading relations between the two countries as one of the measures that should be prioritized for bilateral cooperation.

Referring to the long-standing relations between the two countries, Armen Grigorian said: "There are great capacities for the development of economic and security relations between the two countries, which require additional efforts to activate them."

He added that electricity transmission projects between the two countries and gas swaps between Armenia and Turkmenistan are important issues in the relations between the two countries.

The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Armenia stated: "The Islamic Republic of Iran plays an important role in the development of relations between the countries of the South Caucasus and ensuring the security of the region."
