Tehran (IP)- The adviser to the Iranian Minister of Petroleum on Iraq stressed the need to strengthen cooperation between Iran and Iraq in the field of energy.

Speaking on Wednesday, June 22, at the meeting of the Joint Working Group on Iran-Iraq Oil Cooperation, Abbas Beheshti said: "Trade issues between the two countries will be discussed in this joint working group, and if necessary, separate meetings will be held."

The meeting of the Joint Working Group on Iran-Iraq Oil Cooperation started this morning (Wednesday, June 22) and was chaired by Mohsen Khojastehmehr, the Deputy Minister and CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company, on behalf of the Iranian delegation, and Bassem Mohammad Khazir, the Iraqi Deputy Minister of Oil on behalf of the Iraqi delegation.

He called the formation of a joint chapter of Iran-Iraq relations valuable, and added: "We hope to have good cooperation in the field of energy."

"We hope that the cooperation between the two sides, especially in the field of energy, will be strengthened," said the Iranian petroleum minister's adviser on Iraq, noting that Iran had made good progress during the sanctions.
