The chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan met with the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in Kabul on Monday.

Iran PressAsia: On his Twitter account, Abdullah Abdullah stated that the meeting with the Iranian ambassador was about recent political developments, the expansion of bilateral relations and ways to support the Afghan people.

The meeting took place as Abdullah returned to Kabul on Saturday after a 43-day visit from India.

Former Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai and former chairman of the Afghan High Peace Council Abdullah Abdullah are among the few political figures who remained in the country after the escape of former President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and the dissolution of the former government.

During his 43-day visit to India, Abdullah is said to have met with his family and mediated informally to improve India-Afghanistan relations. 219
