Canadian police temporarily evacuated the Canadian Parliament on Saturday due to a "suspicious incident" and blocked access to the surrounding areas.

Iran PressAmerica: Canada Police investigated an unspecified suspicious incident in the Parliament Hill area of Ottawa, Ontario, on June 11, CTV News reported.

Authorities have evacuated Canada's Parliament and have closed numerous streets in the surrounding area, including parts of Wellington Street.

A statement from Canada's Parliamentary Protection Service said the police investigation was a "potential security threat." The report also said all parliament buildings were on standby.

Police say they received information earlier in the day about an unspecified potential threat near the parliamentary precinct, prompting them to close some surrounding streets to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

The Parliamentary Protective Service also ordered an evacuation of Parliament Hill, alerting all Parliamentarians and staff and noting all buildings in the precinct were to be under shelter-in-place orders until further notice.
