IRAN (IP) - Extending congratulations on the anniversary of the Republic of Azerbaijan's independence, the Iranian President called for further deepening of bilateral relations between the two countries in the new era of Iran-Azerbaijan ties.

Iran Press/Iran news: Republic day in the Azerbaijan Republic marks the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan on May 28th, 1918. 

Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi congratulated the Azerbaijan Republic on Republic day in a message on Saturday to Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliev.

In his message on Saturday, Ebrahim Raisi expressed satisfaction that after the end of the occupation of the territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the grounds for cooperation between the two countries had expanded and expressed hope that these capacities would be expanded by the efforts of both sides.

President Raisi said: "The common religion and deep ties between the two nations of Iran and Azerbaijan have provided a solid foundation and valuable support for relations between the two countries in the new era."

The high-ranking official stated: "Based on these ties, the Islamic Republic of Iran after the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan has always worked within the framework of mutual interests to expand bilateral relations in all fields."

He expressed hope that the capacities of the two sides would be used in line with the mutual aspirations and interests of the two nations.

The President emphasized Iran's stance on foreign policy and its efforts to promote neighborly relations with the Republic of Azerbaijan.
