On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Switzerland, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran conferred with, the President of the World Economic Forum.

Iran PressEurope: The 52nd annual meeting of the World Economic Forum kicked off last Monday in Davos, Switzerland.

In this meeting, Amir-Abdollahian while pointing to the importance of economic diplomacy in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, explained some of its priority areas.

Amir-Abdollahian, recalling Iran's excellent capacities in the fields of transportation and regional and international transit, as well as the country's oil and gas industry, said that expanding cooperation and trade with neighboring countries is a priority of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Iran's top diplomat also referred to the need of rebuilding the global economy after the coronavirus pandemic and added, in this regard, at the summit of gas exporting countries in Qatar "Gas for the reconstruction of the world economy in the post-Coronavirus period" President of the Islamic Republic of Iran has offered an initiative to deal with this issue.

Amir-Abdollahian announced Iran's readiness to work with the World Economic Forum to identify the potential of this initiative.

Welcoming Iran's economic diplomacy, especially the expansion of interactions with its neighbors, the President of the World Economic Forum noted the interest of Persian Gulf officials in the Davos 2022 summit to expand economic cooperation with Iran and the World Economic Forum's readiness to consider Iran's initiatives. 

Børge Brende also expressed hope that the forthcoming talks between Iran and the world powers with the focus on lifting the oppressive and illegal sanctions against Iran will achieve the desired result and provide the ground for using Iran's capabilities in reviving the regional and world economy more than before. 219
