Kabul (IP) – Iran's deputy ambassador to Kabul said there was no serious conflict on the Iranian-Afghan border.

Iran PressAsia: In an interview with Iran ‌Press on Tuesday about the recent border developments, Hassan Mortazavi stated that the problem was about a border point and it was the asphalt pavement installation that Iran halted.

He highlighted that Iran prevented the process of resolving the border dispute first; the Taliban paving the road in the border area was on the Taliban's agenda without Iran knowing.

Mortazavi pointed out that in such circumstances, a misunderstanding arose and a meeting was held on Tuesday with officials of the Taliban Ministry of Defense in Kabul on border issues; it was agreed that the Taliban delegation would meet in Tehran, Kabul, or a joint border post after the month of Ramadan to resolve the border dispute.

During the meeting, officials from the Taliban's Ministry of Defense stated that the Taliban government in Afghanistan was not seeking a confrontation with its neighbors to create a border issue, and senior Taliban officials emphasized that the Iranian border was a border of peace and friendship.

Iran's deputy ambassador to Kabul said a delegation of Taliban and a delegation of Iranian border guards were also scheduled to hold an initial joint meeting today at the border to resolve the misunderstanding, with the main meeting to be held after Ramadan month.
