The chief executive of the Islamic republic of Afghanistan, Abdullah Abdullah in a meeting with Iran's deputy foreign minister Abbas Araghchi, said the relationship between Iran and Afghanistan is based on national sovereignty and national interests and will not be affected by other countries.

Iran Press/Asia: Abdullah Abdullah, executive director of the Afghanistan national unity government, met with deputy foreign minister of Iran, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, and his delegation on Tuesday at his office in Sepidar Palace, the Office of Chief Executive, said in a statement.

In this meeting, Araghchi said he has come to Kabul to participate in the trilateral meeting of Iran, Afghanistan and India, as well as discussing a comprehensive cooperation document between the two countries.

He added that the finalization and signing of a comprehensive cooperation document will lead to a "new order" and "prosperity" in the two countries' relations.

Araghchi emphasized that Iran's policy in relation to Afghanistan is based on national sovereignty and cooperation with the government and supports the Afghan government's initiative to maintain national unity, peace and security.

Kabul asks for Tehran coop. in fighting terrorism

Noting the joint struggle with terrorism, he emphasized that there is no such thing as good and bad terrorists. Araghchi also expressed Islamic Republic's concerns about the activities of Daesh (also known as ISIL ) terrorist group in Afghanistan, and said: "We consider Afghanistan's security as our own security, therefore, we should cooperate more actively in fighting terrorism."

Stressing the necessity of continuing banking cooperation and expansion of economic cooperation, Iran's deputy foreign minister said that trade between the two countries is currently up to 3 billion dollars.

The Chief Executive of Afghanistan also emphasized that the government also wanted to complete and sign a comprehensive cooperation document between the two countries.

Referring to the current situation in Afghanistan, Abdullah also described terrorism as a threat to national security and called for increased cooperation between the two countries to face these common threats.

The Chief Executive of the Government emphasized that Kabul will decide in on the basis of the principle of national sovereignty and its own national interests and the relations between the two countries will not be affected by another country.

Two sides also discussed the fight against smuggling and the production of narcotics, refugees, peace, the water problem and the expansion of bilateral cooperation.
