Amir-Abdollahian:

Tehran (IP) - Iran's foreign minister said that one should not wait for the Vienna talks, adding that by focusing on the economic capacities, sanctions should be neutralised.

Iran PressIran news: The eighth round of talks in Vienna, which began on February 8 in the Austrian capital with the focus on lifting the oppressive and illegal sanctions against Iran, entered a break for the second time on March 11.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, as a responsible country, has repeatedly stated that given that the United States has been a party to the Joint Comprehensive plan of Action (JCPOA) violation, it is Washington that must return to the agreement with the lifting of sanctions, and that the US commitments must be verified.

In an interview with IRIB news agency, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Saturday evening that all ministries and related departments of the Iranian government are focused on the sustainable development of the country's economy, with this view as well as relying on domestic capacities, sanctions can be neutralized.

Amir- Abdollahian added: "We should not wait for the Vienna talks and tie the Iranian economy to the results that will be achieved there. We are pursuing the continuation of the Vienna talks and negotiations to lift the sanctions."

The Iranian foreign minister also noted that US extravagance was a major obstacle to the final stages of the talks, saying that US extravagance was such that even three European countries, France, Germany and Britain, criticized the Americans at the negotiating table.

The talks in Vienna have seen some progress due to the initiatives of the Iranian negotiating team, but the reluctance of Western parties, especially Joe Biden's government, to compensate for the former US administration's illegal actions and continue the campaign of maximum pressure, casts doubt on the country's seriousness in lifting sanctions and has led to prolongation of the dialogue process.
