Iran Press/ Asia: This document was signed on the first day of Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani's visit to Tashkent.
The document, signed by Viktor Mahmudov, National Security Adviser to the Uzbek President, paves the way for joint cooperation between Tehran and Tashkent in the fight against terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking and other transnational organized crime.
Within the framework of this document, a wide range of intelligence and security cooperation has been initiated between the two countries, and meetings of the Joint Security Commission are going to be held annually to evaluate the results of cooperation in Tehran and Tashkent.
Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, twitted about the importance of signing this document saying: "Activating regional capacities to create lasting stability is considered a prerequisite to the development & promotion of regional cooperation in the 13th administration."
Shamkhani further stressed that the signing of the document establishing a joint security commission between the governments of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan is a crucial step towards increasing comprehensive relations between the two countries.
