Tehran (IP) - The First Vice President emphasised on the expansion and deepening of relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Iraq, especially in the financial and banking sectors, and stated that Tehran welcomes the comprehensive expansion of relations with Baghdad.

Iran PressIran news: Mohammad Mokhber on Thursday in a meeting with Mustafa Ghalib Makhif, Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Iraq, stressed that interaction with neighbors is one of the priorities of the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, adding: "Among the neighbors of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the government and the people of the Republic of Iraq have a special place for the Islamic Republic of Iran due to deep religious, cultural and historical ties."

Referring to the serious determination of the two countries in strengthening relations in all fields, especially banking, economic and industrial, the First Vice President stressed the need to accelerate the implementation of understandings between the two countries and said: "The fields of cooperation and deeper activities of the private sector and Iranian and Iraqi companies should be paved, and in this regard, it is necessary for the central banks of the two countries to play a more prominent role in facilitating financial affairs."

He pointed out: "The interactions between the central banks of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Iraq should be developed and deepened."

The First Vice President stated: "Iraq's stability, security and international position are of fundamental importance for the Islamic Republic of Iran, and we believe that solving regional problems is not possible except with the role of countries in the region, and the interventions of countries outside the region and at the top."

Mustafa Ghalib Makhif, Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Iraq, referring to the strong religious and historical ties between the two governments and the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Iraq, stressed: "Given the serious determination of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to develop relations with its neighbors, it is necessary that with the cooperation of the central banks of the two countries, understandings between the two countries be implemented as soon as possible."

Referring to the importance of monetary and financial relations in advancing the affairs between the countries, he said: "Obstructing and facilitating the investment and cooperation of Iranian companies in Iraq is one of the main priorities of the Government of the Republic of Iraq."

The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Iraq also appreciated the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in strengthening stability and security in Iraq and stressed: "The religious ties of the people of Iran and Iraq are inseparable."
