Foreign Minister says an agreement could be reached within hours on the US return to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Iran PressEurope: "We can reach an agreement within hours," Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who is in Germany to attend the Munich Security Conference, said on Sunday.

Iran's top diplomat stated, "We have informed the Americans through intermediaries that it is their turn; it is time to see more flexibility."

The Iranian foreign minister confirmed that the Islamic Republic and the Western parties were close to reaching an agreement, but said that its finalization would depend on more flexibility on the part of the United States and Europe.

"We think that if the Western side realistically deals with what is happening at the Vienna talks today, we can reach a final agreement," Amir-Abdollahian concluded.

Negotiations in Vienna have progressed due to the initiatives of the Iranian negotiating team. Still, President Joe Biden's reluctance to compensate for the former US administration's illegal actions has cast doubt on Washington's seriousness in returning to the JCPOA and has prolonged the negotiation process.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, as a responsible country, has repeatedly stated that, given that the United States has violated the JCPOA agreement, it is Washington that must return to the agreement by lifting sanctions. The implementation of US commitments needs to be verified.
