Iranian table tennis player Noshad Alamian won a bronze medal in men's single event after 52 years at 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta on Saturday.

Iran press/Iran: Iranian table tennis player Noshad Alamian beat Hong Kong’s world-class payer Chun Ting Wong 4-1 in the quarter final of men’s individual on Friday and secured his bronze medal in the event which is the first table tennis medal of Iran in last 60 years. On Saturday, Alamian faces China’s Gaoyuan Lin which has the world rank of 4.

Iran failed to win its semifinal match against Japan in the water polo competitions of the 2018 Asian Games, underway in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta, to fight for bronze today in the third-place match against China.

Iranian athletes had previously won 19 gold medals

 

Iran’s basketball team have avenged their 2014 defeat to South Korea, with a glorious semi-final victory, to reach the finals of the tournament.

The 2018 Asian Games, officially known as the 18th Asian Games, is a pan-Asian multi-sport event which opened on August 18 and will continue until September 2 in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang.

Iranian athletes had previously won 19 gold medals in the Games.
