Moscow (IP)- After the meeting with his French counterpart, the Russian President stressed the efforts to revive Iran nuclear deal and called it "necessary."

Iran PressEurope: Since April, Vienna has been hosting talks between Iran and five international partners, focusing on salvaging the Iranian nuclear deal as it was initially meant to function.

After talks with his visiting French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that their positions on the situation around the Iran nuclear deal are very close.

"We discussed the situation around the Iran nuclear deal and the restoration of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) that was adopted in 2015 and approved by United Nations Security Council resolution 2231", Russian News Agency (Tass) Cited the President of the country.

We share the opinion that it is necessary to continue diplomatic efforts and encourage compromise solutions in the interests of saving this major document," Putin continued.

"We agreed that our positions on this matter are very close or, as diplomats say, coincide," he added.

Russia and China repeatedly called the US responsible for the current situation of JCPOA, mainly after Donald Trump's withdrawal of the nuclear deal.

The eighth round of Vienna talks resumed February 8 with a bilateral meeting between Ali Bagheri, Senior Negotiator of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Enrique Mora, Coordinator of the talks.
