Tehran (IP)- The Deputy Minister of Petroleum for Petrochemical Affairs said: “The installed capacity of the petrochemical industry will reach more than 140 million tons by the end of the seventh development plan and in a 4-year horizon and by the end of the eighth plan about 200 million tons per year.”

Iran PressIran News: Morteza Shahmirzaei addressed the official opening ceremony of the 15th Iran Plast International Exhibition on Monday morning, pointing out that the actual annual production of petrochemical products was at the beginning of the Islamic Revolution only 1.5 million tons per year. Iran's petrochemical industry has reached more than 90 million tons of annual production capacity.

Shahmirzaei called the current capacity of polymer production in the country more than 10 million tons and added: "By the end of the seventh development plan and with the completion of ongoing projects, the installed capacity of the industry to the 2027 horizon will cross 140 million tons per year and in a 4-year horizon to 2032 will reach 200 million tons per year."

The CEO of the National Petrochemical Company said that everyone should contribute to the development of this industry, adding that the demand for liquid products will reach zero in the next ten years and investments should be made to increase petrochemical products and develop the value chain.
