Tehran (IP) - Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman reiterates that an agreement in the talks on the revival of the 2015 nuclear deal will be achievable if the US honors its commitments in JCPOA and stops using sanctions.

Iran PressIran News: In response to Iran Press question about the US' waiver of some sanctions on Iran and the real intent behind that, Saeed Khatibzadeh, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman, stated: "It is the United States that must make its decision and return to the 2015 Iran Nuclear Deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) by removing illegal sanctions (on Iran) and effectively fulfilling all its commitments under the agreement."

The resumption of the waiver, ended by the Donald Trump administration in 2020, "would be essential to ensuring Iran's swift compliance" if a new deal on controlling Tehran's nuclear program can be reached in talks in Vienna, the State Department official said.

The waiver allows other countries and companies to participate in Iran's civilian nuclear program without triggering US sanctions on them, in the name of promoting safety and non-proliferation.

The civilian program includes Iran's increasing stockpiles of enriched uranium.

Khatibzadeh noted that despite the US' unilateral withdrawal from the JCPOA and imposing illegal and oppressive sanctions against the Iranian people, Iran remained in the agreement and kept the deal alive.

"US must return to Vienna with a clear decision to remove all sanctions," he stressed.

He underlined: Iran pursues all actions in case of removing sanctions and Vienna talks in Tehran.

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman added: "Our serious focus is on Iran's economic benefit in JCPOA, in which no action has been taken so far."

Khatibzadeh added: "The United States has decided to take action in the area that it desires. These are not cases that are worth paying serious attention to. When the American delegation returns to Vienna, it will return with a clear agenda and take the necessary decisions.

Khatibzadeh said that what has been done today was a very small part of the American will.

The US State Department has announced sanctions waivers on Iran's civilian nuclear program in a technical step necessary to return to the 2015 nuclear agreement, a senior official said on Friday, Feb.4, 2022.
