The Russian representative in the Vienna talks on lifting anti-Iran sanctions said that the delegations of Russia, China, and Iran met on Thursday, describing the trilateral format as very useful in the context of the negotiations.

Mikhail Ulyanov tweeted, "The delegations of Russia, China, and Iran met once again today. This trilateral format proves to be very useful in the context of the Vienna talks on JCPOA."

Following the tripartite consultations, Ulyanov described the Vienna talks as positive and told reporters: "I believe we have made progress (in the talks) and I hope we can make more precise statements in the coming days, But the process is positive."

He said it was difficult to say what the main obstacle to reaching an agreement in Vienna was, but noted that progress had been made in the negotiations.

The Russian diplomat said he could not comment on the content of the talks, but more details would be announced soon.
