17 school children killed in Lagos, Nigeria

Nigeria (IP) – On Tuesday afternoon, 17 school children were killed in Lagos by a hit-and-run truck along Ogunnusi Road near the Grammar School bus stop in Lagos State, Nigeria.

Iran PressAfrica: The accident occurred when the children went home after closing the school and wanted to cross the road when the truck smashed them.

The reports gathered by Iran Press revealed that the truck driver was trying to escape from Lagos State Traffic Management Agency officials when he rammed into the School Children.

An eyewitness, Bola Joseph, told Iran Press that some angry youth set the truck ablaze.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Adekunle Ajesebutu, said more police officers had been deployed to the area to maintain law and order.
