Tehran (IP) - Syrian foreign minister says a new chapter in cooperation between Iran and Syria has begun.

Iran PressIran news: Faisal Mekdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Syrian Arab Republic, met with the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Admiral Ali Shamkhani early Tuesday.

During the meeting, Shamkhani said: "The United States is extremely angry due to the defeat of ISIS in Syria, Iraq and the victory of the Resistance Front, and is looking for new crises."

The United States and the Israeli regime are trying to create a security crisis in Syria, which could have dangerous consequences, he said.

The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, noting that the presence of any occupier in Syria will cause insecurity and the spread of violence, said: "The fate of any aggression and occupation in history was retreat, defeat, and humiliation."

Condemning the Israeli regime's continued aggression on Syrian soil, he stated: "Resistance is the only way to get rid of Zionist cancer."

Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad also said: "With the defeat of the united terrorism front and the establishment of relative stability in  Syria, a new chapter in cooperation between the two countries has begun, with the priority of economic relations."

He also called the illegal US military presence in Syria a violation of the principle of sovereignty and a violation of the country's territorial integrity, adding that the United States seeks to revive terrorist cells to prevent lasting stability in Syria."

Faisal Mekdad called the continuation of the Israeli regime's evil in the region and the repeated military aggression against Syria a real example of state terrorism and a provocative act and said: "Terrorism, military attack, and oppressive sanctions can not disrupt the will of the Syrian people to resist against enemies."

Referring to the vast economic potential of the two countries and the Syrian people's welcome for Iranian quality goods, he called for increasing the presence of Iranian public and private companies in the Syrian market.
