Tehran(IP): The spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Syrian Foreign Minister will arrive in Tehran tonight (Sunday night).

Iran PressIran news: Saeed Khatibzadeh, spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, added on Sunday: "Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Mekdad will meet tonight with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Tehran to discuss issues of mutual interest."

Earlier, the Syrian newspaper Al-Watan reported on Faisal al-Mekdad's visit to Tehran and announced that Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Bashar al-Jaafari would accompany al-Mekdad on the trip.

Amir- Abdollahian has previously stated that the Tehran-Damascus relations are strategic, adding: "Syria has gone through difficult days and the Islamic Republic of Iran will be active in flourishing relations between the two countries."

 Iran's Foreign Minister has traveled to Damascus twice since taking office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
