Brunei Darussalam (IP) - Professor Maryam Mirzakhani's Shelf has been launched in Iran Corner at the library of Technology University in Brunei Darussalam on Monday.

Iran PressAfrica: In collaboration with the Technology University in Brunei Darussalam (UTB), the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Brunei Darussalam launched Professor Maryam Mirzakhani's Shelf (in Iran Corner) at the library of University of Technology Brunei today, November 15, 2021.

Professor Maryam Mirzakhani is an Iranian mathematician and the first woman in the world to receive the Fields Medal.  
This event, which coincides with the beginning of the Book Week in the Islamic Republic of Iran and was held in the presence of the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Brunei Darussalam, foreign ambassadors residing in Brunei Darussalam, the Vice-Chancellor of the Technology University in Brunei Darussalam and other administrators, professors and students of the University as well as Saeed Khatibzadeh, the Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who delivered a speech as the guest of honor.

During his speech, while emphasizing the good relations between the two countries in various fields, he announced the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to start scientific and academic cooperation with Brunei Darussalam.

Khatibzadeh said: "The beautiful country of Brunei Darussalam, due to the ruler and good people, has always been mentioned as a good country in Persian historical books. 
Earlier, Professor Zohreh Soleiman, the Vice-Chancellor of University of Technology Brunei (UTB), while thanking the guests, welcomed the participation of foreign missions in enriching the library of the university and academic cooperations.
Emphasizing the importance of books and reading in the culture of both countries in her speech, H.E. Homeira Rigi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Brunei Darussalam added that the Supreme Leader of Iran's Islamic Revolution and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, while inviting youth and people of the country to read, always emphasized this rich culture.
The ambassador while praising Professor Zohreh, the Vice-Chancellor of University of Technology Brunei for her cooperation in holding this event, considered the educational and academic cooperation as a factor in the scientific growth of both countries’ universities.  
She Said: “The opening of Professor Maryam Mirzakhani shelf coincides with the beginning of the book week in the Islamic Republic of Iran. This valuable event is a step towards promoting scientific and academic cooperation between the two countries. Academic cooperation contributes to the scientific development of the countries, and I am proud to announce that valuable steps have been taken in this regard, which will achieve good operational results with the efforts of the officials of the two countries.”
It is worth mentioning that the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran has donated 31 exquisite books on Iranian studies, architecture, engineering, poetry, and Persian literature to the library of this university.
