Iran Press/ Europe: In an advertisement tweet published by Binance Cryptocurrency exchange company, Mehdi Taremi Iranian footballer in FC Portu, appeared when he could use Binance services because of the company's new rules due to US sanctions.
Binance, who banned "Iranian by blood" from using its services due to US sanctions, now faces harsh reactions in social media by using Mehdi Taremi's photo in the company's ads.
Binance before banning Iranian user in a statement advised its remaining users in Iran to withdraw their money as the cryptocurrency exchange seeks to comply with US sanctions.
"If you have an account with Binance and fall into sanctions category, please withdraw your assets from Binance as soon as possible," reads an email received in recent days by Iranian users, according to several sources in the cryptocurrency market.
Binance action in stopping services in Iran after a new set of sanctions by the US faced many criticisms from supporters of cryptocurrency and decentralization market, which said Binance's action is not ethical and called it against the spirit of Crypto.
"Iranian by blood, regardless if you reside in some other country. Isn't this racist?" is the opposite reaction to Binance.
Now Binance's advertisement on Twitter using Medi Taremi Iranian footballer playing in FC Portu led to a new wave of criticism and reaction in social media and cryptocurrency society.
Binance, by signing a multi-year partnership with football giants, FC Porto became the official fan token partner for the Dragões. After the agreement, Binance appeared as a "back of shirt" sponsor for FC Porto in the first season and sleeve sponsor in the following seasons.
After the agreement, Binance tweeted an advertisement announcing a considerable achievement. But things got wrong when an Iranian footballer as the top scorer of the season in Primeira Liga, Portugal, appeared in the Binance ad.
Many social users start mocking Binance, and many others start criticism. Social media and cryptocurrency activists censured Binance and say this ad is a dual standard when Taremi as an 'Iranian citizen by blood' is abused by Binance add when he can't use this company services because of US sanction.
" What a big paradox. Use Taremi pic for adv he cants use your exchange," is a kind of tweet addressed to Binance.
