Tehran (IP) - The Director of the Red Crescent Medical Procurement Organization said that 80% of the coronavirus vaccines imported to Iran was through the Red Crescent Society.

Iran PressIran news: In an interview with Iran Press on Saturday, Alireza Askari said that the society started importing vaccines in May 2021 by bringing one million doses and had imported more than 30 m.

Askari highlighted that in addition to importing the coronavirus vaccine, the organization was one of the manufacturers of drugs in Iran and performed best in preparing medicine for coronavirus patients.

He went on to say that the Medical Procurement Organization became self-sufficient in the production of dialysis products and is the only producer of medical equipment in the thalassemia drugs industry in Iran.

The Director of the organization noted that the body was also active in the exports, especially the export of pharmaceutical items and medical equipment to countries in the region, but the priority of the relevant officials in the Red Crescent Society was to meet the domestic needs.
